Topic: Console as a media hub
Does any of you use a game console as a media hub? One such as the Playstation 3? I've been trying, but I have to setup a media server, and frankly, I don't know how to do that. Does anyone know how to do that?

What's a media hub? And how can you use the Playstation 3 for that? I always thought the Playstation was just for gaming, am I wrong somehow?

A media hub is a piece of hardware that can play all sorts of media. You can use the Playstation as a media hub, but I don't exactly know how to set it up. Look it up on the Internet, Zordani, I'm sure you'll find your answer.

Nice resource, I was thinking of buying a PS3 for exactly that purpose (plus gaming). If it's as easy as those gay make it sound like, I'm all for it.

I think the PS3 is way over-priced and I won't buy one unless/until it comes down to a more reasonable level. All it would be doing for me is duplicating what I already have with my computer and a separate game console. It's just not worth it to me.

Thank you very much, jenny2. I have just finished setting up my media hub, and I can access all my entertainment from one place - the PS3. Now that's what I call cool!

Whoa, that sounds great. I'm actually thinking of buying a Playstation 3 now and turn it into my very own mediahub. I saw some good games on that thing, I wouldn't mind trying it for a bit.

Thanks a lot guys, I didn't know that. Heck, we could use something like that too, but first of all I'll have to buy the initial hardware, and maybe then I can turn my server into a media server too.

So far so good, everything runs smoothly. As per the console being overpriced, that's not true. There are bluray players more expensive than the whole console. And the graphics can potentially be way better than that of the competition. All in all, it's a sound investment.

I don't think it's overpriced either, especially since a decent bluray player costs a fortune. But since I don't play games, making it into a media server would be something that would make me buy the console.

Well, I went ahead and purchased the console. All I have to say is wow! Seeing my first bluray movie left me with my mouth wide open. It's incredible, just incredible. You've got to try it to believe it.

Congrats Megan. I think I'll go to a store near me to just see what you're talking about, you made me curious! Can it really be that cool? Maybe I should get a bluray player these days.

Well done, Megan. I'm so glad you like your new console, I was as excited as you when I first got it. It really is a great piece of machinery, running smoothly, with not a problem in sight.
