Connecting Netbooks to the Network

Is it possible to connect netbooks to a thin client network and use them in the same way as a thin client? Can they be 'dual boot' perhaps using a USB flash device to boot to network instead of its own OS, but still work as a netbook when needed?

They are pretty 'thin' as far as resources are concerned, so would seem to be effective if the architecture could be supported.
