Topic: No Server Software

I've been looking a lot into the Xenocode virtual desktop and something peaked my curiosity. It says, beneath file sharing, that no server software is required. Is that just for the file sharing functions?

Re: No Server Software

If I unerstand it correctly, the program your going to run on your local machine is wrapped up on the server and delivered to your machine with its own virtual OS. I guess it means that your local OS components are not required when you run it?

Re: No Server Software

That would be that no client software is needed-this is discussing that no server software is needed which honestly seems a little unlikely. I can't see how that could work, you'd have to have something.

Re: No Server Software

I guess its because its delivered from a file share which need not be on a server. If your deploying it from a USB device you only have the application.

Re: No Server Software

Oops sorry slight misunderstanding, I think brains is right. The Desktop Client delivers these applcations as shares so I guess they could be shared from anywhere. Hence the ability to run them from a USB device.

Re: No Server Software

You can try Virtual Desktop Client (XReg) by downloading it from the site. There are a couple of virtual applications you can download which have already been created. 14 Days should be enough to try it out.

Re: No Server Software

Ill give that a go and see what happens, any idea what Operating Systems it will run on? I would be running it on XP Professional, assumng it will do that.

Re: No Server Software

I think it will run on any of the Windows after 2000. But you will be able to check that when you try and install it.

Re: No Server Software

Here's the link to the trial - - www.xenocode.com/Products/Virtual-Desktop/Download-Virtual-Desktop-Client.aspx - - The virtual applications are about halfway down the page.

Re: No Server Software

The xreg.exe downloaded but the applications are coming up as 404 at the moment, Ill try later on. In the mean time Ill run Xreg.exe and see what happens. Thanks.
